When you get a new phone, and we all will at some point, this new phone needs to be associated with the Authenticator App as well as your WLR 365 account.


Open a web browser (or click the link) to office.com. Log in as normal with your WLR 365 username and password. When asked to verify, please select "Sign in another way" near the bottom of the window.



This will give you additional options to verify your identity. Please select "Text..." to receive a text message with a one time code.



At the time of writing this document, Microsoft is in the process of updating the account pages. These will be differentiated with Current Account (where you will see My Account after clicking your name) and New Account (where you will see View Account when clicking on your name)

Current Account


Once you have entered your code and are at the main Office page, you can then Click your name in the top right corner and select My account.



Near the middle of the page, under Security info, click on the Additional Security Verification link.




On the following page. Delete your existing Authenticator app listing. After this, ensure that you have the Microsoft Authenitcator App downloaded on your phone.


  • On the web page, select Set up Authenticator App.
  • On your phone, open the Authenticator App and Select add an account or the Plus (+) sign at the top of the screen.
    • This will be a work or school account.
    • Scan the QR code on the web page.
    • Once you see 6 digit numbers. Switch Back to website.
  • On the web page, click Next.
  • On your phone, tap Approve when the new request comes in.
  • On the web page click Save. It will send on more request to verify your selection.
  • On your phone, tap approve.



You have now setup and linked your Authenticator app to your WLR 365 account. You may now close this window and go about your day.




New Account


On the left sidebar, select Security Info.



Delete the current listing for Microsoft Authenticator.



The New Account gives step by step directions, but here is what you should do:


  • Select Add Method
  • Authenticator App - click Add
  • Download the Microsoft Authenticator App to your phone, then click next on the web page.
  • Make sure notifications and camera access is enabled if prompted, then add an account. selecting Work or School account.
  • On your phone, scan the QR code.
  • On the web page click next.
  • On your phone, approve the request that the site has sent as a test.
  • On the web page click next.


Now, on the left sidebar, go to Security Info once again and verify that the Default Sign in Method is set to Microsoft Authenticator - notification. 


You have now setup and linked your Authenticator app to your WLR 365 account. You may now close this window and go about your day.
